Comment Love
I wish I could say this is my idea, but no, there is some random dude out
there whose site I fell across while I was hunting down something utterly else.
Isn't the internet universe wonderful? The author of that site challenges others
to take up the idea, and I am more than happy to do so.
I have, and I think we all have the intention
to give something back to the community and the world as a whole.
Even though you have the option to support this site with direct financial contributions (and my thanks),
I also value
your comments as an equally generous contribution that you as the reader can give back to
the creative process bubbling at this site. For that reason,
I will return the favor by giving 50 cents for each comment,
other than my own, up to $50 a month to specific non-profits helping make the
world a better place. In addition, commenters (and their respective
sites, if applicable) will be given increased exposure through various different
promotions and methods. This entire process is intentionally being kept very
loose and organic in order to find the best working model.
The premise of this
concept is that both my work as well as your time and feedback
have value that can be channeled into making the world a better place.
If you leave quality
comments, you will possibly get some linkage and you will be helping one or more
very good causes. This feature will never be tied to
advertising. The donations are exactly that, donations.
Who Are You Giving To?
At this point, Global Warming is a topic that I care about with some sense of urgency.
The donations that are generated through
this feature will go to Carbonfund.org,
which is a trusted organization for purchasing green credits. I intend
to contribute to this organization for one year and then reevaluate
the organizations and causes that might benefit from some comment love.
I intend to post monthly updates about the donations made the previous month.
To make it simple, I will add up the comments other than my own, multiply it
by 50 cents up to $50 and that will be the amount donated to the chosen organization.
What’s the Catch?
This experience is about being linked, having the chance to participate
in the world, and believing there is a difference to be made.
It's about changing the definition of what has value to all of us.
That said, there is no catch.
You are free to express your opinion no matter what it is. My only request is that you
articulate your viewpoint with lots of heart, some intelligence, and a modicum of respect.
Let's keep the energy stream clean!
With that, I am looking forward to how this all unfolds! And I notice that the more
I work on this site, the more gratitude I feel. So let me keep expressing it.
Thank you for being here, now, today. Thanks.
